Good Evening Alpine Garrison

I want to start off by thanking the membership and the 2017 Command Staff for the privilege of being your GML for the past few months. It has been a very demanding/rewarding experience. Unfortunately, there has been a new development for me which will hinder my ability to continue in this role, and for that I am truly sorry.

As many of you know, my family and I have orders to leave the Utah area in March for our next duty station in North Dakota. Prior to this departure, I will have a lot of additional work to do for the military in relation to this new assignment. This will only take more and more time away from my responsibilities as GML. I do not believe it would be fair for me to leave the office filled while not performing said duties.

*That being said, I have requested to leave the role of Alpine Garrison GML effective January 15th.*

Shawn Gordon has been selected to take my place as the GML. Throughout my time in Alpine, Shawn has been a great help in getting many of you approved, including myself. He has come to our homes, armor parties, etc. in an effort to help us make the best costume possible. I firmly believe that his knowledge of quality costumes will only help the future members of the garrison in their own projects. Until the time of my departure from the role, I will be working with Shawn to get him all the forum access he will need, as well as familiarize him with his role responsibilities.

I wanted to personally thank Maritza Mestre-Touma and Jason McDevitt for coming to me about filling this role in the first place. It was an eye-opener for me as to how much work is really going on behind the scenes, as well as how difficult it can be for me to be the “nit-picky bad guy” when a costume still needs some work or modifications prior to approval. In that regard, I would also like to thank the members of the 725th Scanning Crew for their help in all the recent submissions. I know that there have been a lot of them, and that I would never had been able to get them reviewed and approved without your input.
Until next time Alpine, this has been a message from your Friendly Neighborhood GML.
Chris Reid

I want to personally thank Chris for the exceptional job he has done in this role. His dedication to the role and ability to quickly learn the position has been inspiring. Thank you Chris.

Alpine, we have built a foundation of building the leaders of tomorrow. With that foundation, Shawn Gordon has been chosen to replace Chris. He has the skill and knowledge to transition into this role quickly and efficiently. He is also familiar with command functions as our current GPRO. We have an amazing command staff that readily accepts new challenges. With Shawns move I have also asked Jason Luu to move from events coordinator back to GPRO, a role he had for some time. Over the next few weeks I will address and fill any additional command positions to ensure the continued smooth operation of the garrison.
