Hey all,

This is as much to keep myself updated on my suit as the rest of you. I'm putting together a scout trooper costume. This will be my first and I'll definitely appreciate all the help I can get.

Here's my checklist/update. Please feel free to fill me in on what I'm missing.

Bucket: Ordered.
Hard armor: COMPLETED!
Jumpsuit: Got it, took the seams in and removed some pockets. Need to fix collar and add some velcro to hold armor in place.
Balaclava: Got it!
Boots: COMPLETED!
Cummerbund: COMPLETED! Pouches too!
Gloves: Buying SithArmor gloves but they're out of my size at the moment
Blaster: Ordered.
Voice Amplifier: Got it!

Am I missing anything?

Looks pretty good.

One thing with Biker's is if you wanna go for Lancer status or not. I think it has to be depocketed if you want it...but otherwise not? But I'd ask one of the other bikers, I'm a bit rusty.

There are a couple places to get gloves, i THINK sitharmor? once again, someone more knowledgeable back me up. If that doesn't work, I have contact info for a guy who makes them, but they are more pricey.

KS buckets are a good staple. Same with SC, but those are the two I bought. Heheheh.

Boots aren't too tricky once you get the hang of them. Just make sure you buy marine vinyl, or whatever its called....It just has to be sturdy.

As for the cummberbund, I believe SC still has a decent tutorial on how to make them, if you haven't seen it already.

Also, Welcome! Always good to see another trooper join the ranks of the Empire.

SithArmor is what I have, I like them a lot. From what I've seen on the Biker Scout forums they are some of the favored. I'm with you on your armor choices. I'm still saving for my armor but those are the ones I'm looking at. With all the Scouts running around I may have to look into making Starkiller sooner. ;)

although I don't think it's technically required, you'll want a scout blaster :)

I new I was forgetting something! Okay, blaster added to the checklist.

I also found and read through the requirements for Lancer status. I think I'll slowly work towards that but for now I just want to get a costume up to 501 quality and start trooping.

I finished my Biker Scout just a couple months ago, my armor is SC and I love it. My helmet is KS, was a bit of a pain to put together (at least for me it was) i think it looks great though now that it's done. I had my Cumberbund made for me by a woman online who does a very good job, I can give you her info if you would like. I got my gloves from an online motocyle shop, but the ones from SA look a lot better I think, more accurate. And yeah it's not required to have a blaster for approval, but cmon what's a biker Scout with out a blaster?

Oh yeah, and Welcome!!

Armor ordered, working on ordering bucket, gloves are out of stock. I think my next project is boots. Has anyone had luck with the tutorial on BikerScout? Is this the best method or is there a better way of doing things?

I made my boots using that tutorial and i know that a few others have used it as well the boots have all turned out great. If you don't have a heat gun or you don't have the time to let them sit in a hot car for hours, a hair dryer works just fine for the melting and stretching of the vinyl.

My armor just shipped! Now I'm getting super excited! So, advise on blasters, the only kit I've run across is the KS. Is there a better way to do the blaster?

I had molds, but they're shot. I'm in the process of re-doing them, but it's going to be a couple of months at least before they're ready.

Once in a while you can find a kit on ebay, or for the best (IMHO) option go with a hyperfirm from sci-fire: http://www.sci-fire.com/tbpage.htm

They're made from rubber, so if you drop it, it won't break.

Status update time!

Spent about 10 hours over the past two days on my armor. I have it all sanded and clean, all the straps sewn together and attached, belt all riveted together. Pretty much everything but assembling the hump and then painting details. I hope to have time to do that tomorrow. Helmet should ship within the next couple of weeks, still waiting for SithArmor to get medium gloves in stock, plan on making my boots and cummerbund next week. If all goes as planned I might have this thing by the end of October. Which brings up something I've been wondering, considering how often y'all wear your costumes for other events, do you also wear them for Halloween?

Wow, you are moving along fast, that is great!

Last year was my first Halloween wearing my stormtrooper and I had been looking forward to it for a long time. I had been trooping in it at events for a couple of months prior. What I came to learn was that Halloween was a huge let down for me. EVERYONE gets dressed up on Halloween, and instead of being treated like a Star Wars character straight out of the movies like I did when I went to events, I was just another guy in a Halloween costume even if it was a little bit cooler than most others. It was quite a let down. I found that I actually preferred wearing my armor to events than Halloween.
